Italy triumphs in the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship. Young female of Italvolley have won the world title in the Under-18. In the final of Lima, in Peru, Italy led by Marco Mencarelli has won the United States with a convincing 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25 -16).
The girls played a great game fielding a spectacular performance that surprised the adversary.
In this category for Italy is the first historical gold medal in a World Cup, after which as level of cadets had obtained a silver (2003 Stack) and three bronzes (1995 Poitiers, 1997 Chiang Mai, 2005 Macau).
Best scorer of the match is Paola Egonu with 18 points, followed by Giulia Melli (12 p.) and Victoria Plans (10 p.).
At the end of the match Egonu won both the prize of MVP of the tournament and the best spiker, while Alessia Orro was named best setter. The defending champions China won the bronze medal.
